Something that I am often requested to do is to draw a holotype. That means that my drawing will represent the species, not an isolated individual. For that reason, it is necessary to curate every single aspect of the illustration to ensure that all the characteristics that define the organism are evident.
This drawing was an exercise on that matter, where the aim was to create a classic holotype image of a False map turtle (Graptemys pseudogeographica).
